Sirish Makan, DDS

Dr. Sirish Makan is a successful board-certified medical educator and oral care surgeon working across California. Currently Dr. Makan is an Associate Adjunct Professor at Harbor UCLA and the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Concurrently with these teaching activities, Dr. Makan also practices Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in California. Dr. Makan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California, Riverside (2007) and a Doctor in Dental Surgery from the University of the Pacific (2011).

Robert Sharobiem, DDS

Dr. Robert Sharobiem completed his Doctorate in Dental Surgery at UCLA in 2009, graduating in the top five percent of his class. From there, he earned a General Dental Practice Residency Certificate at St. Barnabas Hospital, NY, where he was named Resident of the Year in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Certificate at Mount Sinai Hospital, NY, receiving advanced training in facial trauma, oral surgery and reconstruction. His accomplishments include board certification by the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Director of the UCLA/USC Mobile Dental Clinic and being one of the founders of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Study Club at UCLA.

For Dr. Sharobiem, giving back to the community is extremely important. That’s why he’s participated in dental mission trips to help impoverished people in Mexico, Haiti, and Guatemala. This level of generosity is why the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons honored Dr. Sharobiem with the Humanitarian Award for Residents in 2013.

Dr. Sharobiem has an amazing niece and nephew whom he loves spending time with. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys reading, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, hiking, basketball, bowling, trying new foods, and volunteering at church as well as overseas medical missions.

Jayini Thakker, DDS,MD

Dr. Jayini Thakker has been in practice for over 10 years. She graduated from Dental School at the University of California, San Francisco. She then completed Medical School and Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida. She is currently an Associate Professor at Loma Linda University, performing a broad scope of procedures and teaching residents in training.
In her spare time, Dr. Thakker enjoys hiking, surfing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Julene Funk, DDS

Dr. Julene Funk is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) from Ohio State University and completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Highland Hospital/ University of San Francisco (UCSF).

Early in her career, Dr. Funk encountered remarkable female oral surgeons who ignited her passion for forging her own path in oral surgery and making a positive impact on her patients. Her extensive four-year training in oral surgery focused on dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, IV sedation/anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, and pathology.

Dr. Funk is committed to merging her clinical expertise with a gentle and compassionate approach to patient care. Outside of her professional commitments, she finds joy in playing tennis, exploring new destinations, and cherishing quality moments with her husband, Christian and her best friends, her younger sisters.

Ariel M Farahi, DMD, MD

Dr. Ariel Farahi Dr. Ariel Farahi is a dual-degree, board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who grew up in the Los Angeles area. His educational journey commenced at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he embarked on his undergraduate studies. He went on to University of Pennsylvania, completing Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) in the top of his class and continued his studies at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania to obtain Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). He completed his two year General Surgery training and rotations in Plastic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Neurosurgery, Critical Care as well as General Anesthesia and Pediatric Anesthesia training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He subsequently completed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, serving as chief resident. He subsequently completed a prestigious one year fellowship in Advanced Orthognathic, Facial Reconstructive, & Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Alfi Oral, Dental Implant & Facial Surgery in the Texas Medical Center.

His surgical training was focused on the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including corrective jaw surgery. Heavy emphasis was placed on dental implants, complex bone grafting, dentoalveolar surgery, and general anesthesia.
Dr. Farahi has received numerous awards, including from from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS). He has been published in book chapters and scientific journals including Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In his spare time, Dr. Farahi enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Marni, son, Jamie, and daughter, Naomi. His hobbies include basketball (especially watching his Lakers), golfing, and spending time outdoors.
